My transition into television came through the same lens as film: as the client-side head of department, responsible for the full lifecycle of visual effects from initial budget and concept through on-set supervision and final delivery. Episodic production demands a different discipline — tighter schedules, overlapping edit cycles, and vendor relationships that span an entire season rather than a single unit.

Both series below involved managing over 1,000 VFX shots across multiple international vendors. Each required building and maintaining a creative brief that held together across many episodes, directors, and months of post-production.

Television has become the primary proving ground for ambitious visual effects work. The technical bar for streaming platforms now rivals theatrical release, while the pace and volume of work demand producers who can balance creative ambition with hard budget reality.

The Walking Dead: Dead City
AMC 2023

The Walking Dead: Dead City S01

Dead City is a spinoff series based on graphic novel, The Walking Dead; an American post-apocalyptic comic book series created by writer Robert Kirkman and artists Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Morgan Dean) travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world of anarchy, danger, beauty and terror. The series was AMC+'s biggest season premiere ever at the time of release. Visual Effects Producing Supervisor (Production HoD). As head of department for VFX for this spinoff series with just over 1,000 shots for 6 episodes. I oversaw all budget, VFX design, set and editorial supervision from preproduction to delivery. Working with VFX vendors in Canada, US and India.

Happy!
UCP / SyFy 2019

Happy! S01 & S02

HAPPY! is based on New York Times best-selling author Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson's graphic novel of the same name. The series follows Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni, Law & Order: SVU) – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy (Patton Oswalt). Written by Grant Morrison, Brian Taylor and Patrick Macmanus, this is a must see TV series I am proud to be a part of. As head of department for VFX for this zany TV series with over a 1,000 shots for 8 episodes for season 1 and 1,500 for season 2, I over saw all budget, VFX design and editorial supervision from preproduction to delivery. Working with VFX vendors primarily in UK and US.
