Swan Song

Swan Song, a true labor of love, unfolded during the challenging days of COVID. The film’s journey spanned continents: prepped and shot in Vancouver, edited in Dublin, and meticulously finished between Toronto and New York. Guided by Benjamin Cleary’s visionary script, we collaborated to translate his future-oriented ideas onto the screen. I actively participated in the entire project, from the inception of the script to the final delivery. My dual role as both VFX Supervisor and Producer allowed me to contribute comprehensively to the film’s journey.

For me, Swan Song became an opportunity to flex my diverse background in Industrial Design and Graphic Design. I delved into crafting a future world, envisioning vehicles, and designing the AR/OS interfaces for cutting-edge computing systems.

Swan Song, set in the near future, immerses viewers in a world where cutting-edge technology takes center stage. Notably, the film showcases next-generation contact lenses and an intuitive hand-gesture-based Operating System (OS). These futuristic elements play pivotal roles in the narrative.

The intricate motion graphics within Swan Song were meticulously crafted by the specialized graphics vendor, Territory. Their expertise brought to life the visual language of this futuristic universe. Additionally, the fonts and style guide for the augmented reality (AR) screens were thoughtfully designed by the talented team led by designer Natasha Jen from Pentagram.

As the VFX production supervisor and producer, I had the privilege of overseeing the collaborative efforts between Pentagram, Territory, and the editorial team. Together, we meticulously researched and crafted a compelling vision of the future, ensuring that Swan Song’s AR and OS systems felt authentic and seamlessly integrated into the film.
