The Expendables 2

As Production VFX Supervisor, I was involved in the movie from pre-production through post-production and final delivery. VFX breakdown and budgeting, script changes to match budget and location scouting during pre-production. Design and first unit on-set VFX supervision during production. Post-production VFX supervision from editorial (Los Angeles). Delivered 1547 VFX shots on an extremely tight and challenging timeline on time and budget.

The project was particularly complex due to actor availability. We had to cut the sets from main location in Bulgaria and transport it to Hong Kong so we could shoot and digitally incorporate Jet Li into all the sequences. The Expendables aircraft was a build and was not air worthy. It was essentially a boat with a tow rig. VFX had to support a lot of issues related to this and integrate with a CG build. Further complications included a lot of additional sequences being added during post which had to be completed in the set schedule as the release date was fixed.
